Just
thought I'd leave a note, back in 1977 I went through airborne
school at Ft.Benning,Ga. I was just seventeen! I was scared of
heights but not afraid, I remember that when they opened the doors
to the C-130 my knees rocked hard I kept telling my friend that
I was not going to jump, but as my stick grew closer to the door
my blood pressure got intense I knew nothing could take me closer
to fear than I was at that point! The next command Stand in the
door, There I was Facing what scared me the most 1250 ft to the
ground (for a sky diver not that far) for me a world away! At that
moment I also grabed some courage somewhere and on the command
GO I exited the aircraft 4 seconds later the silk opened and there
I was enjoying the best view of my life, I was not scared anymore
AWESOM! then I noticed that the ground was comming forth to greet
me! thats right the blood pressure thing was back, feet and knees
together, slam an ugly landing! Yet I just overcame what scared
me and did what everyone else back home said I would never do!
If not the best day of my life, a hair away! So to your letter
of being afraid, face it, respect it, deal with it, ENJOY it! You
will only know the peacefulness it brings if you greet it with respect!
(to this day I remember doing pushups after that first jump
for jumping up & down & yelling but they were worth all the sweat
maybe the black hat knew maybe not I think he did) So if fear
is all that is stopping you, you can beat fear GO FOR IT!!!! blue

Very
nice, enjyable site. A cyber friend pointed me here. I will surely
visit often. I really like the pages on skydiving. I've never
done it, but almost did about 25 years ago, then I married, settled
down...well you know how that story goes......
I have a new
boss at work that is a skydiver, and now I'm getting the bug again.
He has suggested the tandom dive. I just might do it.
My current
hobby is sailing and sail boat racing..as you can see if you
vist my web page.
In my youth I was into water skiing and kite flying
(on water skies), hang gliding to mention a few.
Well, keep
up the good site.

Carl,
your page is outstanding. Thanks from all of us for all the
hard work that has gone into it. It has added fuel to my fire to
be in the skies as much as possible. As a 40 yr old mother of two,
I have just re-entered the skies again. Going thru training again
has been a real trip. Much has changed in the skydiving field.
Better, faster and definately hotter! Last year I got my certification
in scuba diving. Now if I were only rich and could devote
all my time between the two sports. LOL what a life that would be,
huh?
Ending with the well known quote : If you are not living on
the edge, you are using up too much space! Go For It!

Wow
lots of Skydivers here.
I enjoy thrill sports:
Skiing double-black
runs(extreme);
Racing a dirt bike in an Enduro or Hare Scramble(extreme)
My
wife doesn't care for extreme sports.
We enjoy
Canoeing(natural). We have spent several afternoons on the upper
St. Croix, and on
the Cannon River. It's easy, you just drive to
the outfitters, they take you up river, and you paddle and drift
back to where you're parked. You never know what might be around
the next bend. We've seen all kinds of wildlife, including Bald
Eagles and even a Black Bear cub and it's
mama.

I
thank you so much - words can't do it justice but they'll have
to do. When I first saw your site, it caught my interest. But
not for what it is on the surface. I know I might sound like
an adventure snob but, most of the adventure stuff like 'chuting,
etc is baby stuff for me. I've gone 80 mph on skiis, hung from
a glider with nothing below me for 8000', performed tactical
repelling. Anything that has to do with technology or mechanics
is a cakewalk for me.
But I know my weaker side. And that is in
the social arenas. Picture this. I am a person who loves music.
I love dance music. And I love to dance. But I am not a very
socially active person, by choice. I have a few good friends,
but no steady woman or group of friends who like to dance.
So
I heard about this great club, just 5 MINUTES away from my house.
I've never been there. I know the music they play and I dance
to in in my safe, private home often. So the tension has been
building. I have been craving to go and listen and move to the
LOUD POUNDING house music, but, until now, overcome with FEARS!
Fears
about self-expression, fears about being alone, fears about
the unknown, fears of rejection from women, fears about approaches
from gay men. Jeez, sounds like I'm a bag of fears, eh? Well
your step-by-step advice was SO perfect. It made it so easy!
I'm
proud to say that I went there, with confidence, walked in
with ease, kept thinking about positive things, and soon I was
on the dance floor having a wonderful time, and hardly a single
moment of self-consciousness.
One other thing that I did that
helped, and I don't know if you had it in your checklist, I told
myself that I didn't HAVE to do anything, and that I could just
take it one step at a time. Get in the car, yes. Drive to the
place, yes. Look at the place. At any time I could have pulled
back. Walk in, yes. Walk around, yes. Move onto the dance
floor and dance, YES!.
I have found a new "natural" drug - dancing.
Thanks for your help and if you're ever in Santa Monica,
and want to catch some great House Music, let me know. :)))

Hi,
My cousin and her husband own an run the Cleveland Sport Parachute
club in Parkman Ohio and I work there also on the week-ends.
There names are Bob and Karen Gates. They run a professional place
and this year we have done more tandems then 1st static lines.
Your web site has been very interesting and since I know alot
about the skydiving business it is well put together for people
who does not know anything about the sport. It is amasing how many
people of all ages are interested in this sport.
