Got my first S/L in the Fall of '93, it took 3 yrs. and a trip to California to get me motivated back into the sport, I've made 14 jumps since October. I made my second "real" freefall 2 mos. ago.(supposed to be my 2nd 10 sec delay). It was the last l oad of the day (sunset) and the pilot kept climbing, I was supposed to get out at 4500, as I watched my altimeter, it keep reading higher and higher, I started rushing like crazy.....anticipating the terminal. I looked at the JM at about 5500 and he ju st winked and smiled! at around 6000, I was starting to wonder just how high we would go....Shortly after..... he said forget about the 10 seconds, I just want you to pull at 3500, He advised me to pull at any altitude if I became unstable or started sp inning. It was at 6500 that he told me to get out, I fell into a perfect arch, had a smooth transition, brought my arms in a little, and rushed my *ss off. I must have checked my altimeter 100 times! I remember looking at it at 4000, preparing to pull, and by the the time I reached and pulled, (which seemed like only a second or two), and was under canopy, I was at 3000! This was the best so far, can see it getting nothing but better........Man, it's good to be back!] Blue Skies

Well, this is a interesting page. Looks like most people are just begginers. My advice to you is stick with it, but keep your heads out of your buttocks. Skydiving is a wxcellent form of entertainment but it can really come back and bite you if y ou are not carefull. I might be a low experienced jumper, 634 jumps in three years, but I have lived and worked on a major DZ for about a year. and you get to see some weird stuff. If your just starting out and have about twenty stable jumps do what I di d, go head down, you'll never go back to flat. Well blue skies and safe landings.

Thanks for the tip, Michelle! I've been reading some of the AFF stories that people have posted on various sites. It's been very helpful. I think that I'll be a little bit ahead when I take the class. I've been doing PRCT's already, making sure I bring my left hand over my head. I'll keep you posted.

Congratulations Gary on your Tandem! Fine call me Michael! That is ok, it has been done before. Here is a tip for you when you start AFF: Don't kick! Just ARCH! There is nothing to step on. I have seen this with alot of students so far, especiall y myself. I was on Level III when my instuctor let me go. I was whaling all over the place when I kicked him right in the nose and gave him a nice gash. We can laugh about it now but then it wasn't funny. He was not happy! The next jump an hour late r, I just arched hard and relaxed. I didn't even know he let me go until I looked over for him and he was 10 feet away from me. That jump I passed right by a cloud. I could have reached out and grabbed it if I wanted. It was so beautiful! The cloud, the sky, the independence - I then knew this was definately for me! Let us know how the first AFF goes! 100 jumps will come soon!!!

Yesterday I went for my 41st skydive since 11/1/97. I was shaking in my boots because it has been so long. But as soon as I heard "DOOR!!!" I was ready and alot came back to me! It was a pretty rusty freefall but I managed. It has been 5 months. What do you expect! I lived, I loved, and I will do it again next weekend! My brand new rig still did not come in yet. Maybe this week! Blue Skies Baby!

I did my first tandem skydive today. My God, it was INCREDIBLE!!! The most amazing, awesome, thrilling experience I've ever had. I am HOOKED!! I've got to do it again. I said this very thing to my instructor as we were descending. I'm going to ta ke my AFF training and get my license. It is impossible to explain to another person the feeling you have, it is indescribable. My instructor told me I would feel this way and he was right. Until you do it, you can't know what it's like to climb on to the step outside the plane and then, LET GO!! YOu really feel like you're flying. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. I hope I never come down from this HIGH I feel right now. Blue Skies and Soft Landings to everyone!!

On April 8, one of my best friends came down from Carbondale,Il where he goes to school at SIU. I live in Springfield, Mo and there is not much to do here. I was racking my brain to find something for us to do so he would go back to school still shak ing from excitement when someone walked up to me and asked if I wanted to go Skydiving. It hit me hard ! The perfect weekend was taking form. I called and got us into the next class and we both were so excited, we barely slept the night before. We we nt thru the all day class and was jumping by 4:30. It was the most AMAZING feeling I have ever felt! Crawling out on the wing, letting go and ARCH! ARCH! ARCH! My GOD it was UNBELIEVABLE! My first jump, solo from 4,000 ft from a Cessna. I'm hooked. I can't understand why people feel they have to shoot up or snort something to feel that alive when all they have to do is JUMP. JUST JUMP. I never want to do anything else. ONLY BLUE SKIES LIE AHEAD. Thanx.

I've made two tandem jumps and the 2nd being the last load at sunset was unbelievable. I can't imagine anything else that can compare with the sense of adventure then the anticipation of the door opening and hanging on the wing just before release. As soon as the weather turns I plan to continue my required jumps to be able to jump solo. I'd like to work towards getting my pilots license in the future also. My friend got his last year and I'm soooo envious. May we all continue to fly in the suns hine.

Just wanted to say "Hi!" and that I hope to go back skydiving again soon. My story? Well, I'd never have stopped skydiving if God hadn't sent me a gift from the sky after I "touched His face" - He sent me my baby, who I hope will be skydiving with me in a few years... I'm getting sick of being stopped skydiving because of the winter! Here in Québec, we only can jump 6 month per year so, when i read most of your graffs, i have to tell you that you're lucky to live in a skydiving paradise. What a cool web site! My first jump was March 5, 94 - at Skydive Sabastian in sunny Florida. I was told not to look down - just take a deep breath and hang on. I looked down and someone was video taping my reaction - a new skydive form was born - t he "Prayer form." However, it was one of the greatest things that I have ever done!!

I turned 16 while in Austria with my parents and older sister. The year was 1962. We rode a train to near the summit of a mountain called "The Yungfrau". My sister and I rented skis. I had never skied before. As I stood there,wobbly-legged...my sist er shoved me from behind. I did'nt know how to stop.... Downhill from me was a glacial crevass perhaps 20 feet across and 200 feet deep. Wind whipping at me....I threw myself to the hard-packed snow.....skidding.....clawing at the ice.....my body fi nnally came to a stop with one leg hanging into the abyss. I am 50 years old now. And that day on the Yungfrau was my first and LAST foray into skiing...!

I was skiing my first time at Mulitpor on Mt. Hood. It was very icy. Needless to say I had fallen my fair share of times, and so I was tense and leaning backwards which was making me fall all the more, and it also made me go faster! Suddenly, I fou nd myself out of control, bookin it down this hill with my poles flailing. This man appeared on the slope from out of nowhere...too terrified to turn, and too tense to do it even if I remembered how, I barreled towards him and slid over the the top of h is skis! Still barreling faster, towards the bottom, disgruntled skiiers got out of my ways as I tucked and prayed. Amazingly, I made it to the bottom of the slope, came to a complete stop and just stood there dazed. And then, glutton for punishment, I got right back on the lift and did it again! As you can tell, Im still alive, but I am much safer to others if I am rollerblading!

Hey everyone. I use to be terrified of high places. I wouldn't even climb a ladder. I use to get teased all the time about it. And then one day, I was hit with a ton of inspiration. I saw a movie titled "Drop Zone". I thought to myself, "If I c an do that I can do any thing. So I called up Eloy (Skydive Arizona) and made a reservation. I was very scared but I had something to prove. I went up to 13,000 feet, got strapped to my instructor, and went out the door for my first Tandum. I fell, I lived, I loved it! I have only jumped 5 times since but that has been due to lack of money. Hey, If I could bottle up the feeling you get when you go out the door of that plane, I would sell it and be the richest man in the world! If you haven't f ell, you have not lived! On September 15, 1996 my Mom and I had our first tandem skydive. We waited for 2 or 3 hours for the weather to clear up and finally a hole in the clouds was spotted. We ran to our plane with my father white as a ghost watching us go up and up into t he sky. We finally reached the 12,500' where we would jump. Mom and her jumpmaster went first I watched in excitement as she disappeared below. Now it was my turn. I sat in the edge of the door with my legs wrapped around the plane and 1,2,3 we wer e gone. All was blissful for 2 seconds then we were falling through a giant hail storm at 120mph. All I could think about was I HATE THIS! Finally when my jumpmster Kevin felt it was safe he pulled the rip cord. All was fine then. The view was spe ctacular and I couldn't believe how quiet and peaceful it was up there. All in all the jump was fun except for the hail storm. For anyone who hasn't fallen through a hail storm-DON'T. My face was red, blotchy and swollen for 3 days not to mention that it was extremely painful. I would say that even through all of the pain it was worth it though. We are even planning on jumping again in the spring when there isn't a cloud in sight.

I have two adventures to tell. The first is my SCUBA dive in the Bahamas last May('96). I went with UNEXSO (Underwater Explorers Society) on a number of dives but the two that were the best was the Shark Dive and the Sunken Tanker Dive (110ft.). Wit h the sunken tanker dive I was running out of air. By the time I got to the surface after two stops I had just finished the tank. You can see some QuickTime videos at my site http://www.maaz.com/~milkovic/extreme/scuba/ The other adventure was my first jump from a plane at 12,000 ft. I had it taped as well. You can see the QuickTime at http://www.maaz.com/~milkovic/extreme/skydiving/

Skydiving...The art of throwing yourself at the ground...and missing... I did static line jumps back in the late 70s and am looking to get back to the air. Went to a wonderful place in Xenia, Ohio called ,at the time, The Greene County Sport Pa rachute Club. Great guys all. I guess my lack of response to his READY? while sitting in the door was a positive sign to my particular jumpmaster as he just looked at me and smiled that big "you-know-what" eatin' grin and said GO!.. I went and was neve r happier. I am looking forward to rounding up the cash to go AFF soon...Sean
