Building a Web Site

Building a web site can be a fairly simple task. It all depends on what you want that web site to contain. Chances are, since you are reading this document, you do not want a multi-million dollar site, just something to call you own. I am going to share here most of the tips and tricks I used to build Adventure Living and use continuously to keep it fresh.

The most important thing about building a web site is doing it in an orderly manner. If you simply slap it together without giving any thought to organization, you will end up with a dead homepage that no one comes to visit. I suggest you read these pages in order. There will be times when I tell you to skip a section and return when you need it. However, for the most part I have tried to lay everything out in the order you will need it.

You probably won't need to read every page. As we define what you want in your site, I will tell you what you need to read and what you can safely skip. For example, if you are intending to build a single page that says simply, "here I am," there is no reason for you to understand how frames work.

You first step is to start making your decisions.
